My other sewing passion

My passion for sewing started on a whim. I was walking through a big box store, and found myself in the sewing department. I walked past the clearance bin, and noticed a pile of fabric rolled neatly and priced for only a dollar. This is where my thriftiness and a desire for a new project came to life. I grabbed several rolls, a few spools of thread and headed for the door (after I paid of course!).
Once home I pulled out a small sewing machine my mom had given me, which she had sworn to me that one day I would find a use for it. (Until that moment, it had just taken up closet space.) I spent that weekend cutting, sewing, and best of all creating. Though the quilt was lopsided, and a bit funny looking, I loved it. A new passion was born, and I had fallen in love with sewing.
Although I have since moved on to sewing purses and tote bags, I still love to sit down and create a quilt for a new baby. There is something special about a homemade gift, the love that goes into it is passed on to the family that receives it. There is nothing better then that.
